This is an oldie, but a goodie. Grilled cabbage is amazing! It's takes a while on the grill, but is so worth the wait.
Our relatives Don and Ruthie shared this recipe with us a few years ago and I finally made it. This simple, delicious recipe for grilled cabbage is as easy as it gets.
You will need:
1 head cabbage
salt and pepper
Cut out the core of the cabbage. Cut a deep whole into the center of the cabbage so that you can stuff butter and onion into the cabbage.
Salt and pepper the inside and outside of the cabbage. Stuff butter and small onion chunks into the center of the cabbage. I used 1/2 stick butter.
Fold foil up around cabbage and seal it before putting it on the grill. Grill directly on the grill rack at a low heat for an hour or more until the cabbage is tender. I turned the heat up for the last 15-20 minutes so that I could cook the meat and the cabbage was fine left on the grill. It browned nicely, but did not burn. I never turned the cabbage or flipped it because I wanted to keep all of the butter inside.
This was so good, I'm thinking of making cabbage again this week. Go buy some cabbage, grill it and enjoy.
