Welcome to Home Ec at Home. I am so glad you are here. I taught high school Family and Consumer Science for 10 years and loved it, but now I am loving staying home with my children. A little over 8 years ago after I had been staying home with babies for about a year, I decided I wanted to continue to share the world of home-making so I created this site.
I have always loved food and preparing it. And yes you can call me a foodie. I have officially found myself referring to myself as a foodie. I have been developing and experimenting with recipes for as long as I can remember (well at least since high school and college which was a really long time ago). I taught foods and nutrition all 10 years of my teaching career and it was my favorite subject.
Occasionally you will see me reference the food lab and best practices for teachers in a lab kitchen. This is usually in reference to recipes I taught in my FCS classroom. I know I would have loved the advice when I started my teaching career so I share helpful hints for the classroom from time to time. In fact if you are a beginning FCS teacher and have any questions about food lab management or recipe use in the classroom feel free to shoot me an email or use the contact form and I will do my best to help you.
Now for the reason I stayed home and started this website/blog in the first place.
Our boys! God has blessed us with four of the most amazing boys on the planet. They are rough and tumble as ever, but they are also inquisitive, thoughtful, and so full of love.
The main focus of my blog is my passion for food and home-making, but I will sometimes throw in a post about these wonderful boys and their day to day antics. As you can imagine, they are always up to something and keep us really busy!
Lastly, I believe that faith and family are essential to leading a full and truly prosperous life. My thoughts on just about everything come from this perspective. I love my Catholic faith and know that I am a child of God. One of my goals is to lean on Jesus a lot more and put my trust in him. I figure he can handle my worries a lot better than I can.
