It's hard to believe it has been almost a month since I posted here. You were probably wondering if I did in fact fall off the face of the earth. I haven't been able to blog because we moved over Christmas break. Actually, my husband graduated with his PhD this fall and was hired as an Assistant Professor at a University in another state. We were excited to move our family to our new college town, but could not do it in time for the boys to start school so I temporarily became a single Mom.
I am so glad to be back together as a family. I learned a lot as a short term single Mom, but am glad I don't have to do it anymore. And to all of you single Moms and Dads out there...WOW...you are amazing! So over break, we packed up all of our belongings and moved (happily further south, hoping for warmer weather) to our new beautiful and super friendly town. We are temporarily renting an amazing house from the University while we search for the right home for our family. Even though it's not permanent yet, we are so happy to be together.
The boys on our Christmas morning in our new house.
We moved in about a day and a half before we celebrated our Christmas morning. We quickly set up our vintage silver Christmas tree the day before.
I have to share this because it is my favorite feature in our new home. It is the coolest island ever. In fact I would love to recreate it in another home someday.
I love the rustic weathered look of the wood and the wide shelf underneath.
I love the concrete counter top of the island. Isn't it beautiful! I have been wanting to make some videos for a couple of recipes for a long time so if I can get my act together, you might just see this amazing counter top at work.

Congratulations on your move! Guess I won't be seeing you around town anymore. :( Happy you are back to the blog, and the island does look awesome. :)
