I saw this idea for a sewing kit in a jar at It all Started with Paint and decided I would make this for my sister's birthday. Her birthday is today. Happy Birthday Rebecca!
It was pretty easy to make, except that I'm not very experienced with a hot glue gun so I had a little trouble glueing the pin cushion into the lid. I finally got it to work. Also, it was the middle of the night after a very busy day hosting my 6 year old's birthday party. Fatigue had set in and I'm sure it affected my crafting skills. (I wanted to give this to my sister while she was visiting.) I didn't have any stuffing or batting to fill the pin cushion so I used some cotton gauze squares from my ample supply of burn wound dressings. It looked a little lumpy, but it worked. I filled the jar with a few basic sewing supplies including three vintage wooden spools of thread from a really cool local reuse shop, The I.D.E.A. Store. I made a simple, frugal and useful gift. Hope you like it Rebecca!
