I haven't been here in a while. I've been busy with my role as wife and mother and just haven't had much to give elsewhere in my life. I also realized that I get really stressed about things big and small and that my kids need a Mom who's not totally stressed out. I think I just thought that all Mom's are totally stressed out and that's the way it is. I don't want to go from one stressful moment to the next day after day. There are moments of peace, I just let the small stuff stress me too much.
Yesterday, when I was sitting at the bus stop waiting for my kindergartner to arrive, I realized that my two younger boys were playing peacefully with sidewalk chalk and that it was a beautiful day and I had so much for which to be thankful.
This almost immediately brought me peace and I felt calm. I had experienced normal Mom stresses earlier in the day and had felt stressed off and on throughout the day. I should also mention that my husband has been super busy working on PhD stuff and hasn't been able to help as much. Kudos to all the single Mom's out there for doing it alone.
I love being a stay at home Mom. It's what I have always wanted to do, but it can be tough sometimes too. I decided that if I focus on the blessings in my life, the tough stuff might not be so tough. Kind of like a gratitude journal. I'll see how it goes, but you may see more of these "Counting My Blessings" posts.
I am thankful for the joy that my children bring.
I am thankful for the time that we do get to spend together as a family and that my boys are full of adventure.
I love that my boys are interested in science and nature and share that enthusiasm with their Dad.
