I was feeling a little down tonight after the election results were in and having a hard time writing this post and then I received my nightly email from my Mom's pastor. As soon as I saw the title "The Word Gives Hope" my spirit lifted.
Here is the message: Psalm 63:6 says: "When I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches." The Word of God is God. He and His Word are one. When we have idle minds, or empty minds, this is not a good thing. We've all heard that idle hands lead to wickedness. This is true, but also true is the fact that idle minds become the playground of the devil. God gives us something to think about so that we can avoid an idle mind. In the hours of the night when our day has passed, thoughts come to our minds. Maybe we have been discouraged, or maybe we have been overwhelmed, or maybe we have experienced defeat in some area, whatever it might be. In these times God gives us a word for our night season. If we will mediate on that word during the night when our minds would like to think on other things, as morning comes joy will come with it. The Word of God is the basis of our hope, and it is the foundation of our expectancy. Begin to think about what God has given you, and think on the revelation of who God is to you. Remember what He has done for others and what He is waiting to do for you today.
