Homemade Pizza

This is a great recipe the whole family can help make.

This is the easiest pizza to make and so delicious.  It only takes 30 to 40  minutes from start to finish (including baking time).  This will be a regular meal in our house and our preschooler and Daddy loved helping.  We really enjoyed this pizza, but will experiment with adding a little more sugar to the crust since my husband loves a sweet crust.  I found this recipe at Money Saving Mom, one of my favorite sites.

Homemade Pizza

Pizza Crust:

1 Tbsp. active dry yeast

1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees F.)

1 tsp. sugar

1 tsp. salt

2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

2 1/2 cups flour

Dissolve the yeast in the water. Add the rest of the ingredients in and mix.

Dump onto a floured surface.

Knead into a smooth dough (five minutes or so).

Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface and then press down onto a greased pizza pan.

Add toppings. (Have fun and be creative with this! Our favorite is pepperoni, pineapple, onion and cheese.)  The pizza in the picture has tomaotes, pepperoni, yellow bell pepper, onion, mushrooms and cheese.

Bake at 450 degrees F. for around 12-15 minutes until the crust looks crispy and lightly browned.

By the way, you can make up a double or triple batch of the pizza crust dough and freeze the extras if you don’t need it. This speeds up the preparation even more as all you have to do is pull out a bag of dough in the morning and then put the pizza together right before you’re ready to eat.

Cupcake Decorating

We had a cupcake decorating playdate last week in which the kids could decorate their own cupcakes.  Boy did they have fun.

I let the kids use these small Pampered Chef icing decorators and they were perfect  for their little hands plus the icing only comes out of the decorating tip.  With an icing bag, one end is open (you twist it or fold it as you ice) and icing would be everywhere with these little munchkins.

We put all kinds of sprinkles and candies out for the kids.  I love this divided glass platter.  Each section is a separate dish that lifts out.  My husband actually found this at a thrift store and it is one of my favorite things.

Strawberry Mice

Picture
This is a fun snack to make with kids.  I saw this recipe on familyfun.com and adapted it slightly to make it even easier.

You need:
strawberries
mini chocolate chips
almond slivers
licorice string

Simply push chocolate chips into strawberry to make eyes and a nose.  Push almond slivers into strawberry to make ears.  Use licorice string as a tail.  I could not find licorice string and used Cliff for kids twisted fruit, untwisted.

This is a lot of fun.  We invited some friends over and read mouse themed stories and then made strawberry mice. Below you see the supplies ready for the kids.
